I don't play any more, but the last reed I made from scratch was when I was
in undergraduate school. I've probably "fixed" enough reeds over the years
to justify saying I've made a few more, though. I know that oboe and
bassoon players do it all the time, but I always preferred to spend that
extra time working on practicing.
