Works for me. We call our present head of government here a
"President." That too is an interesting word-play.

I was going to suggest one way to get rid of the idiocies of electoral
politics here, especially as they afflict us every four years, would be
for us to come back to the UK as a colony or at least member of the
Commonwealth. There are enough Royals-freaks here so you'd think we
were in England anyway; supermarket tabloids are filled with the
presumptive bad behavior of Prince William, and with rumors that
Princess Diana was pregnant with Satan's child. In any case, we'd get
National Health, wouldn't we? Okay, so the taxes would go up, but we'd
get something for them instead of hot air and porkbarrel projects that
all wind up in West Virginia because of that state's Senator (sorry,
Rebecca). We'd also get a far stronger currency in the English pound.
The dollar right now is behaving like Haitian money.

Or maybe we could annex ourselves to some European country like Ireland
or Luxembourg and get the economic benefits of the Euro. Having to pay
a VAT is a drawback but not enough of one to discount the idea.

The United States of Luxembourg...nice ring to it:-).
