Apropos nothing in particular, do you know that in the era of the
Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, we Brits used to call pound
coins, 'maggies'?

So, why was a pound coin called a maggie?

Well, it was called a maggie because 'it thought it was a sovereign'.
