Good questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The supplier was far from reputable - the barrel was for an Eb but the only
way it would work was "upside down" considering the normal flair on a Bb
clarinet.

I should have known the material was resonite - but i was naive, wanting an
Eb so bad. It sounded bad because: The drilling was not precise enough to
keep it in tude and the Eb is difficult, especially in its highest register,
to keep in tune. it had a sound more of what I would expect from a picolino
sax than a clarinet. It was just awful. I had several knowing people play it
and it sounded horrible to them as well. I suppose one can find bad
instruments in any lot, and that's why I deal with a vendor who tests the
clarinet before delivery.

I have since played a Buffet Eb and was able to prouce something closer to
music than with the Chinese version. I use it to stir soup nowadays (Not the
Buffet, the Chinese clarinet).

didn't answer any of these questions first, you might have ditched a
reasonable clarinet. Just playing the devil's advocate here.
