You rarely appear here except to criticize other people for posting
off-topic. (Btw, since it was obvious in context that Sean's original
message came here by accident, this off-topic thread probably would have
disappeared overnight if you hadn't made an issue of it.) The people
contributing to the current fund drive would hardly waste money on
something we considered "pretty useless," or even uselessly pretty.
Anyhow, if the list is so useless, then why are you still here? If you
don't like us, you can always bug off to the alternate "clarinet" list. If
it's still around, it's moderated. If it's not still around, there's the
online forum, also moderated:

To Sean Osborne: Thanks for your gracious apology for the accidental
off-topic message, but I'm glad to know that campaigns are being organized
against that mean-spirited amendment. As long as both parties to the
marriage are consenting adults, how is it the government's business who
marries whom? (What's next? Bring back the laws against miscegenation?)
I don't see how sincere, loving gay marriages could possibly do anything
but *strengthen* the institution of marriage, in a country where Brittney
Spears' deliberately temporary Las Vegas quickie mega-kitsch farce of a
ceremony was a legal marriage for the few hours it lasted.
