Vito did make the Dazzlers, a line of colored clarinets. LA Sax I think
introduced the first line of colored-lacquer saxophones and then other brass
instruments. And both Leblanc and UMI (King, Conn, etc.) tried
colored-lacquer brass instruments in the early nineties. Some of the
descriptions of the technicolor stuff you find on Ebay borders on hilarious
and ridiculous. It's just a matter of time until metal clarinets are back in
style (with myu tongue in cheek) in colors.
