Shouldn't the letter summarize succinctly what is wrong with the
instruments? It's possible that Costco's buyer(s) simply doesn't know.
Such as:
> The keys bend under the 'normal' pressure
> required to play the instrument.
> 'High notes' won't sound because of sloppy
> tolerances, and the high notes are what
> attract many buyers who have heard clarinet
> music and want to play one themselves.
Also, there could be a paragraph that points out that Costco is damaging
its own reputation by selling unplayable instruments --- something to
the effect of:
> I hope you will consider that customers who
> later discover they have paid $85 for an
> inoperable instrument will also question the
> quality of other merchandise offered at
> Costco --- especially when they consider
> buying items with which they have no prior
> experience. Can they trust Costco?
And finally, overt threats are not appropriate in a letter of this sort.
