At all costs......

have a good time. If it's not fun, you're not doing it right. :)

Seriously, you seem to have it planned better than most people I know did.

Are you going to try different brands? or just different models of the same
brand? Remember you are going to likely feel more comfortable with
instruments that are similar in construction - bore, barrel taper, etc. - to
the instrument that you are using. (you're used to it) Don't be afraid to
play an instrument that you initially do not like for a bit longer to be
sure that you are indeed not interested in it.

Other than that, I check certain intervals with the tuner as well as gauge
how easily those intervals speak. One in particular - for me - is slurring
from high 'B' to altissimo 'E' and back to high 'B.' This is one check that
has been relatively tell-tell for me regarding instruments, but then again
that is just my opinion and obviously keys into the particular of my playing
and equipment setup. I pay attention to how easily the instrument speaks
across this interval with as little persuasion from me as I can manage. I
also check the throat tones (obviously) as well as the regular 12ths up and
down the instrument.

take lots of breaks and have a great day.
