I have one of these, too, and it's also a good place to keep your
pencil so it doesn't get in the way when turning pages. I stuff my swab
in there too, during concerts where I'm on a stage and I don't want
the swab on the floor or on my lap.
These shelves are pretty cheap, too...mine was around $5.
