Pit tip number one.

take some "white out",(for you youngens, it's what we had before the delete key) and paint the ends of you instrument stand pegs. On black carpet, I was taking to long to get the flute on the stand and make the switch back to clarinet. With the painted ends it was easily twice as fast.

I know this is not a radical advancement in clarinet technique, and problably not a new idea, but a few extra seconds to get set to play the flute or the clarinet have a big effect on first few notes that come out out.
