I play on a Vandoren M15 with a Rovner ligature, but I am going to
change to a Vandoren "Optimum" ligature when I have money. I also play
on Vandoren Black Master (german cut) size 3.5 reeds but will soon
change to a size 4.

If you are not satisfied with your tone the best thing to do is
experiment with different things until you find something you like. A
change in ligature, maybe a new reed, maybe even moving the reed a
smidge to the left or right- can all affect your tone. Play around with
what you've got and if you're still not happy, get some new toys!

I can't believe it - a Portnoys complaint!
