If you really want to challenge yourself, I suggest a "Fake book". It
gives you the tunes with the chords that you can elaborate off of.
That's what I use.. It's fun, especially when you've got a jazz
guitarist for a good buddy... :)

Jim,

I like the Jamie Aebersold books. You can find one that suits your level

and desired style of playing. Volume one gives a good outline and
there
are almost a hundred more to choose from. All the CDs are recorded with
leading artists and you can jam your heart out. It's what we use in my
improv class.
