The best indication I've seen is when the conductor simply spins his
finger in a circle indicating to repeat (loop), and then holds up a
closed fist when playing the passage for the last time. My high school
conductor usually did this when entering the last time and also right
before going on, in order to make sure everyone saw it again. No
ambiguity, quite clear and concise.
