Dear Rien,

The latin question 'Visne excipere quisquilias?' means: Will you please
take out the garbage? The word 'vis' comes from the verb: volo, velle,
volui, which means 'be willing, will, wish.' It is conjugated in the
present indicative as follows: Volo, vis, vult, volumus, vultis, volunt.
The form used here is the second person singular. Someone on the list
thought that 'vis' came from the word for 'force' or 'strength', which
is declined in the singular as follows: vis, vis, vi, vim, vi. This, of
course, is not the correct word. 'ne' is an enclitic that designates an
interrogative. An enclitic leans backwards on or is attached to the end
of a verb to designate that a question is being asked. There is also a
form called a proclitic, which leans forward on a following word form.

'Excipere' is the infinitive form for the word 'take out'. And finally,
quisquilias is the accusative plural of the word 'quisquiliae. It has
several meanings, such as trash, refuse, etc. It most likely comes from
the word quisque, which means every, or any sort of thing.

This is probably more than you wanted to know. Now I have to justify the
email by using the word clarinet or music. (which I have just done!)

Hope all this is enough.
