There are two topics here: (1) Should you continue to give lessons to
someone who doesn't practice enough? and (2) Should you continue to give
lessons to someone who doesn't show up when scheduled? These are
different questions, really.

Apparently this student committed both sins simultaneously, since he
admitted both to not practicing the previous week *and* also to not
wanting to show up this week.
