I just got home from a concert in Philadelphia (in Verizon Hall) of the
Concertgebouw Orchestra. Does anyone know anything about the clarinet
section members (the program lists Jacques Meeriens and George Pieterson as
principals,Hein Wiedijk as second - I don't know which was playing
principal, but it was the same player for the whole performance) or about
the equipment they use? Do they play Boehm instruments (I couldn't see the
keywork clearly enough from where I was sitting)? Any idea from anyone what
mouthpiece/reed style is popular there?

I was a little surprised (this is off-topic) that the trumpet players were
playing piston valve trumpets - somehow I had expected to see (and hear)
rotary valve instruments.
