Yeah, only use it if you need massive gain before feedback. You're =

Probably the best way for micing a clarinet for live performance when =
you
are moving around and need amplification is an omni directional wireless =
lav
mic positioned mid-chest on your body. A Sennheiser MK-2 capsule works =
well
for this (as to some of the Sanken and Tram capsules that are often used =
for
film work)

Eddie Daniel's mic setup is pretty decent sounding, too, but it is
cumbersome to put on and use. When I've run sound reinforcement on =
concerts
that he's played on, I've been happy with the sound I get from that =
setup.
Richard Stoltzman uses the Lav mic mounted on the chest and he get a =
great
sound that way. Just make sure it is omni, rather than cardiod because
otherwise the bell end of the instrument sounds muffled.
