Subj: [kl] Miking a clarinet
Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2004 12:39:27 -0500

I know there are many threads out there on this topic, but none that are particularly recent. I
am going to play a solo with a concert band in the near future. Past experience with mikes on
mike stands is that they do a poor job of amplifying the clarinet - even when aimed at the middle
of the instrument. It also greatly restricts movement.

Does anyone know of a good reasonbly priced (under $200) solution? Has anyone tried succeefuly to
use a lavalier mike on eother thier lapel or even attached to the bell/lower bottom joint via a
strap, facing up?

I have seen the AMT WS solutionm, but it costs nearly $500!

Thanks.
