Gee David, why not just do away with the clarinet altogether, if you aren't
a pro, and just sing the parts. After all, you don't really need a real
clarinet if you aren't a pro. I don't consider my self a pro (I don't make
my living making music), but the money I have made from my C clarinet just
paid for a week in the same space as a lot of pro players and it was an
education I never would have gotten were it not for that little C
clarinet. It has earned it's life with me and I take very good care to see
that it will continue to be useful. If you want to play C parts and sound
the way the composer intended, then you need a C clarinet. No other
clarinet has that "C" persona.
