I did a double-take on your use of the word "Anglo". Around here,
that means a non-Hispanic of European descent whose native language
is English. (English speakers only recently became a majority
in New Mexico.)

Anyway, to me the salesman making a pitch is metaphorically throwing
something at me, as you say. When we pitch a tent, however, we are
setting it up, not throwing it.
