I have a question.
I play a very middle-of-the-road Portnoy BP02 mouthpiece (roughly
equivalent to a B45) on my Vito, with Opera #3 or Mitchell Lurie Premium
#3.5 reeds. The setup works pretty well for me, but I have the sense
that my tone isn't very "focussed". I wander a bit more than I'd like.
The most likely explanation is an undisciplined embouchure, of course,
but I've been wondering if a slightly more closed tip (with a slightly
harder reed) might help me.
Any recommendations for mouthpieces that lean just a little to the
"closed" side?
