Dear Howard,
I think you should (perhaps) forget about the Rose Etude and order
Randall Cunningham's "Chalameau Studies" from Howard Klug. These studies
are delightful and very suitable for you at this stage of being a
beginner. I think that it is hard enough to learn to play simple melodic
pieces without having to sub-divide at the same time. Good Luck to you.
