I played (but did not own) a Buffet Elite for a period and geatly enjoyed
it. I have quite small hands and I think the instrument's weight and
dimensions were an advantage. I thought its intonation excellent and am not
convinced its tone was smaller than that of my R13, though its feel might
give that impression. It belonged to a student of mine who played the normal
repertoire on it, including the Copland Cto and the Debussy Rhapsody.
At the time she was applying for an orchestral position(s) and was convinced
those who auditioned her were prejudiced by the fact she played an Elite, so
she switched to R 13.
She is now working regularly, using R13's.
