Jim Lytthans wrote, "I noticed that the WWBW is selling the Buffet Tosca Bbs
for $3695. It's available in grenadilla or Greenline. No price on the As."

WWBW in Paris has Tosca's on eBay, too, for a little more money.
I am interested in this marketing. I was told at NAMM in the Music Group
booth (but I can't remember if it was an official statement or just a comment by
one of the people present) that the Elite is going away as a model. I'm aware
that of the many pros that do use Buffet, the R-13 Prestige is probably the
most commonly used (in the US). The Tosca is superficially more conservative
than the Elite, so it is more likely to get evaluated and used by people.
I think the clarinet market continues to be intriguing. In the next few
years we'll see if the Tosca makes inroads into the Prestige market by the top
players; I bet it does.

A continuing disclaimer, I have no economic interest in Buffet. I enjoy
talking about the marketing, though. I have changed my life considerably lately.
I now work in a music store in Tehachapi, California, a music store that
specializes in classical and traditional strings. If we were to get involved in
winds, it is in the distant future. But I am having a blast. I have one sax
student, I plan on having more students, I like learning about marketing, and I
enjoyed going to NAMM and thinking about selling winds. There are a million
choices of instruments available!
