I have examined (and tuned) quite a few C clarinets in the last few years - it seems to becoming a side=speciality for me.

One thing I have noticed is that the C clarinet is VERY sensitive to variations of bore and baffle as regards intonation.

I have found that - in general, I am sure that there are exceptions - that mouthpieces with a very deep baffle, and a relatively narrow windway, can play havoc with the throat tones.

The phenomenon discussed above could have been caused solely by trying the instruments with different mouthpiece configuations.
