I teach beginner/intermediate students, and I can second the
recommendation of Randall Cunningham's etudes. The 3 Cunningham books
that I would recommend first are
21 Chalumeau Etudes
18 Preludes
Petite Pieces
Woodwindiana publishes them; you can order direct through Howard Klug
at HDKlug@-----.com.
Another that I stumbled on this fall is really a charmer. It's called
Amazing Studes (pub Boosey & Hawkes) and contains a wide range of
truly gripping pieces - some well-known, most more obscure - in etude
form. They touch on non-Western music and medieval styles as well as
Western classical. B&H also publish a volume called Amazing Solos, but
I haven't tried that one.
Best of luck in your search.
Anna
