Both the Weber and Brahms Quintets have been performed and recorded with
string orchestra. The only difference between the original and the expanded
strings is the number of strings used: string quartet vs. chamber strings.
The parts for the expanded strings are the same as the original quartet.

While I can not remember exactly who recorded the Weber Quintet with
expanded strings (I believe that it was Sabine Meyer or Dieter Klocker), but
Sabine Meyer's brother Wolfgang Meyer has recorded the Brahms Quintet with
expanded strings.

Subject: [kl] Need suggestions - clarinet and string orchestra

A local chamber orchestra, just starting up, has asked me to solo with them
this spring.

I want to play something fresh, but not too adventureous (audience of
conservative older people).

I am just brain dead coming up with something suitable.

Suggestions?

Has anyone ever done parts of the Weber Quintet as a solo with clarinet and
strings? Years ago, I played a band arrangement of the slow movement and the
last movement, arranged for clarinet and band. Worked as a solo there.
