Certainly, one could use a CNC cutter to shape the outside of a
mouthpiece. I don't know how well that would work for the inside; there
are a lot of axes there.

However, it's not immediately obvious to me that we WANT absolute
consistency. People are different, and the variations in mouthpieces
are what enable us to find something that exactly fits our physical
makeup. Sure, if I find that an X45 works for me, it would be nice to
know that the next X45 will be exactly the same, but that doesn't mean
that the X45 will work best for Sally sitting next to me.
