The nearest I can come on short notice to an authority on Chedeville
mouthpieces is Terry Steckel:
http://www.sterkel.org/clarinet/chedeville_mouthpiece.htm. He mentions
the the original Chedevilles, Charles and Henri, as well as Lalandais
which took over the firm in 1949. Someone on this list had a Lalandais
alto mouthpiece for sale: it's too bad I didn't have an alto on which to
put it. Anyway, Steckel writes "At different times, clarinet
manufacturers such as Buffet and Bundy supplied Chedeville-made
mouthpieces with their clarinets." He doesn't specific which times, nor
does he mention a distinctive logo such as the crown or letter C, but I
guess it's possible if Chedeville made mouthpieces for specific firms,
their logo would be on the piece too. Chadash's Buffet barrels bear
both his name and the Buffet logo, yes?

No, I don't know Steckel's sources. But I gather it's at least possible
that this Buffet-logo mouthpiece is a real Chedeville, not a rip-off and
not even a copy. Most people probably get a little antsy when they see
claims for anything on eBay. I've bought there and I've sold there and
I don't blame them. But this just might be for real.

What's mind-blowing to me personally is the idea of original Chedevilles
on Bundy clarinets. Unless Bundy years back played second (fiddle?) to
nobody.

BTW, whoever Terry Steckel is, he's the one who convinced me to go for a
Chadash/Chris Hill mouthpiece. Larry Combs may be right: regardless of
the mouthpiece, sooner or later you're still going to sound like
yourself. But for now it seems an incredible player that makes you
sound better just using it.
