<According to the New Langwell Index, Van Marly & Cie were "Dealers; clients
of Thibouville Freres" The Thibouville family was involved in the
manufacture of musical instruments starting in the 1700s and operating
through many different partnerships & combinations of family members.

Jim,

Thanks for the input. I figured the new Langwell edition would have
something about the bass. Funny it's spelled "Van Marle" on my instrument.
Irregardless, it plays well. And actually there is a serial number.
