Let me tell you how this was managed the first time I ever played Peter
and the Wolf. This was when I was a freshman or sophomore in college,
at approximately the time when Prokofiev's piece was still new music!
;-) The principal clarinetist in the orchestra had only one instrument,
a standard Boehm system Bb. So, when the time arrived for the low Eb to
be played, I, playing principal bassoon, played that note for him. It
was not an entirely successful solution, but no one in our audience of
elementary school children seemed to mind too much.

BTW, where I was living and going to school, which in fact was not far
from where I was born, the title of this piece was pronounced "Peter and
the Wuff!" ;-)
