I think if you are careful, you can do ok on ebay. I have bought and sold
a number of items there.
About two years ago I bought a virtually unused Buffet Festival A Clarinet
for $1750. I corresponded quite a bit with the seller who was a frequent
ebay seller, selling it for a friend. The story was that this clarinet
had been purchase by mistake. Instead of getting "a" clarinet they got an
"A Clarinet." There were lots of pictures. I can't remember what if
anything we did about possible returns.
The instruments plays exactly as I expected. It could use some tweaking as
it has the typical A Clarinet problem with the subtone on high A, but it is
a decent instrument. The crazy thing about the whole deal is that is was
originally sold by Kessler & Sons Music which I drive by almost every day
and where I bought my R-13 b-flat.
