I was also going to suggest Bela Kovac's "Homages" as a wonderful
application for technic and phrasing AFTER your scales have been learned
and memorized. Bela Kovac's has the unique ability to write clarinet
etudes that sound very much like the original composer and yet lie very
nicely in the fingers of the clarinetest. I would love to attend a
master class by him someday. In his "Homages" to various composers, he
has written etudes in the style of Weber, Bach & Paganinni, to name a
few. To be quite honest, I have not "mastered" any of them from start to
finish, but I love to work on them. ANNIE
