<Since I am an adult student, a beginner still wet behind the ears at =
50!, I
<feel a bit silly asking this.=20

Don't feel silly. If you don't ask, you will never know. We all =
started in the same place.

<Maybe I am supposed to store it in its case after all the swabbing? or =
use a
<stand? At the moment I only store it in its case when I travel to my =
far
<away lesson.

That is what the case is for - storage. When you put it together after =
swabbing, the corks are still moist. They will swell while the clarinet =
sits and you will have a hard time getting your clarinet apart. Take =
the clarinet apart and run the swab through a few times and then put the =
clarinet in the case. then it will be ready the next time you want to =
play and you won't have to worry about minor dampness because it will =
dry while the clarinet is in the case. You can leave the case open as =
long as it won't fall on the floor or somewhere worse.

<What about clarinet pad savers? I have only read about these and have =
no
<experience. Apparently , these can be left inside the clarinet to =
absorb
<this moisture I am concerned about.

Don't use pad savers. They hold moisture. But sometimes that isn't a =
bad thing. For instance, last summer when I was at ClarinetFest in Salt =
Lake City, It was extremely hot and dry. My keys started binding up =
because the wood of my instrument was shrinking. I very lightly =
moistened a pad saver and put it inside my instrument and closed the =
case. Then the next time I was ready to play, the clarinet was working =
fine again. You can also cut little pieces of sponge and moisten them =
and place in the ends of the joints. Don't shove them up inside though. =
Make sure you squeeze as much water out as possible before placing in =
the joints and remember to close the case so the body of the clarinet =
can absorb the moisture.

<Any input will be appreciated. And by the way, the street I live in is
<called "Woodwynd Heights".... I really like that.

I bet it's a cold "Woodwynd Heights" today huh! Keep warm!
