Hi Eric,

I just aquired a 1924 Buffet with a warp around.
It has the metal lining around the tenons of the upper section. It appears
to be original and I would hazzard a guess that this may be a "professional"
Buffet model. None of my other Buffets of that vintage have these metal
linings. I do own a Malerne thatI purchased brand new as a "Proffesional"
clarinet with this same re-inforcing on the upper section tenons.

I will try to find out more.....

I have polished every one of the keys of my Buffets and hav enever had a
problem easting throug the plating. I use a very agreesive compound for
polishing. However, one should only polish enough hto restore the
finish...there are ill effects to over-polishing.

Hope this helps.
