I don't think we can fault a man for not being ahead of his time. Yes,
Wagner was a racist, but so was almost every person on earth in the 19th
century. Wagner was particularly outspoken on the matter, but I still
don't see that it justifies sensorship of his art just for that. Others of
differing opinions can choose not to hear or play his works as they see
fit. This is merely my point of view.
