A single cut reed has that deep curve where the cut meets the bark, just
above the ligature. The straight file cut reed has an additional
process which makes a perpendicular file like cut to remove most of the
ends of the curve.

As an example,, the standard Mitchelle Lurie reed is single cut
(curved) while the Mitchell Lurie Premium is file cut.
