On modern Boehm systems, low E & F are often a bit flat. If I
understand you correctly, some Oehler instruments use the resonance
mechanism to sharpen these notes (by shortening the air column).

But.... and this is what puzzles me.... Gibson stated that most early
Mueller and Albert instruments lacked Oehler's mechanism, and therefore
Alberts and Muellers never attained "full equality" with Boehms. Yet
when I inspect my modern-day Boehm, I don't see an F resonance
mechanism?

Does this mean that Boehm instruments have lost their F resonance system
over the years? and therefore they have become flat (in these low notes)
whereas they weren't originally?

Thank you,
Bill
