After reading wrong information from David B. and Dan's questions, I would like to correct it: Michele was already principle clarinet in LA when she changed. I don't know whether Zubin Mehta encouraged it or not. But she told me that she played the German mouthpiece in the orchestra the day after she first tried it. Then she switched to Oehler clarinets. Just for the record.
