Subj: [kl] doubling and dry reeds
Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2004 07:37:59 -0500

I am trying another trick for keeping reeds wet when doubling. I use
a plastic container with a lid, put in a damp sponge, and put the
mouthpieces (with reeds already wet) in there when I am not playing
them. I have tried this once, when playing clarinet and three
different saxophones (soprano, alto and bass), and it seemed to work.
(The group's leader thought of this. I had resisted playing more than
three instruments, because of the problem of keeping reeds wet.)
