George Silfies is performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto this weekend (Jan 10 and Jan 11) with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. He has been principal clarinet of the orchestra for 34 years. He first performed the Mozart Concerto with the orchestra in 1970, his first year with the orchestra. There is a brief article about his performance and a color photograph of him on the homepage of the orchestra's web site. The article states that George is planning to retire from the orchestra at the end of the current season.
