Yes, tuning with the mouthpiece works very well, as long as your cork doesn't
let it wobble too much. There was an article in the Leblanc Bell back in the
early 90's by Tom Ridenour explaining how pulling the mouthpiece in
combination with the barrel gives better overall tuning of the clarinet, without the
throat register flatness you get when you do all that pulling at the barrel.
