Hello George,

Yes I'm interested in a German manufacturers list.
As I understand it seems there are some 'new' names coming up.
I played for years on German made Albert system instruments like the A
and/or R. Uebel, Kohlert, Hammerschmidt etc. But (at that time) forced by
my teacher had to switch to Boehm system, Leblanc, Selmer etc.
At that time I did not pay much attention to the difference in sound, but I
was overwhelmed by the possibilities of the Boehm system. Nowadays I can
play both systems but most of the time I prefer Boehm system, because of
the greater possibilities concerning the left and right pinky keys.

Concerning sound differences. In my opinion there is not so much difference
in sound between the two systems.
Differences in soundproduction IMO have more to do with the physics of the
particular player, the instrument setup mpc/reed/ligature, differences in
bore, etc. as with the differences between Albert and Boehm systems.

By the way, several members of the list mentioned the Albert system as
having less holes compared to a Boehm system, IMHO that's not (always) true!
Just counted the holes on my A.Uebel Albert system clarinet, it has 10 holes
in the lower part and 14 in the upper part. A 17 keys Boehm system
instrument, (like my Selmers, Buffets, Conn's) has 9 holes in the lower, and
15 in the upper part. Both systems having a total of 24 holes!

my 2 (Euro)cents

All the best,
