I am currently on the road in Arizona and have unsubscribed from Klarinet
List. Would you please announce the passing of Dr. Fred Westphal, He was a
student at Eastman, one of the founding fathers of the music deptartment,
clarinet instructor and dear friend of many people in the music education
business at CSU Sacramento and Eastman. For many years he was an editor for
Brown publishers, mainly in music education textbooks. He also had a number
of published clarinet quartets and other works.

His wife, Hinda, has asked me to organize a quartet to perform at a
memorial service on Feb 20 (date changeable at this point), using some of
his past favorite students and/or close friends. I have plenty of quartet
music to choose from.

If any players of note that were close friends or performing colleagues of
his and wish to perform clarinet quartets, and a few double quartets I have
arranged, at a memorial service on Feb 20 (date changeable at this point)
they can contact me at gir@-----.net Location unknown at this time but
it will be in Sacramento, CA.
