This is true with my HS band. Some epically our current 3rd clarinets
(all 4) and the other 2 of 3 2nds beside me. I don't allow my partner to
play with no reed or a broken reed. I make her go to the director and get
a reed. I don't care about the other 2, they can't play any way. Most of
them just sit there and stick the instrument in their mouth and don't
play so since they are just their because the parents either said they
have to play or their parents said they bought the instrument in 5th
grade and they have to play until they graduate. They think if they look
like they are playing they get credit for playing, but the director knows
who is actually playing and who is not. Then we have the group who just
don't bring their instruments and play around instead.
