Unless your ligature is something other than standard, a ligature screw
should cost you about $1.00 at any decent music store.

Ricos are fine for beginners who break more reeds than they wear out. As
you have already seen, better quality reeds sound better and last
longer. Mitchell Lurie reeds are a good step-up value -- not that much
more expensive than Ricos but three steps up in quality in the Rico
line. I find them more consistent from reed to reed than Vandorens.
