yes, the of course the tounge and the mouth and inner deminsions etc,,,matter

of course if one adds a flute headjoint to the barrel of a wooden clarinet
and plays - one will get the tonal color and sound and flavor of a wooden
flute,,, due to the accoustic properties of an open end cylinder vs a closed
end cylinder. [naturally, this is played as a flute headjoint accross the
open hole..and not by strapping a reed upon the embouchure hole, n'est ce
pas?][this actually does work!]

so perhaps the tonal color can be constructed from many factors...
