When I was much younger, I looked at people who made their living on
clarinet by playing the sort of thing that Henry Cuesta did. But as I
got older and figured out how difficult it is to make any kind of a
satisfactory living playing clarinet (except for the few chosen ones), I
realize that he was doing the best he could, and, considering what he
was doing, he did it very well. More power to him. And if he had
played his polkas on a basset horn, I would have allowed him to marry my
daughter, who is gorgeous and has a rich father.
