It is interesting that you ask about Mozart's interest in food. There
was a Mozart seminar about three years ago that had an extensive
presentation by a chef who also was an authority on the history of
foods. The entire presentation was a discussion of Mozart's favorite
foods, most of which had been prepared in advance to that the audience
members could taste it.

What prevented me from eating most of it was that it was made with lard,
which I find disgusting to say nothing of artery clogging. But that was
the fat that Mozart ate in all his cooking, so it was used to keep the
food presentations authentic. We had a pancake that Mozart was
particularly fond of, a sort of crepes Suzette.

The presenter dwelt for a few moments on Beethoven's interest in foods,
which was a very dull repertoire of things to eat because Beethoven was
not a gourmet. Most of what he ate wound up on his shirt and jacket. To
him, a sophisticated meal was an "Eintopf" or a one pot stew of sorts.

The cost of this response is a pizza, but it has to be the best pizza
within 100 miles of where you live.
