MARK GRESHAM WINS ASCAP DEEMS TAYLOR AWARD FOR "SOUNDS LIKE HOME"

ATLANTA, GA -- Composer/music journalist Mark Gresham was one of
the winners of this year's 36th Annual ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards
for outstanding print, broadcast and new media coverage of
music, presented by The American Society of Composers, Authors &
Publishers. The awards were presented at a special reception on
December 4, 2003 at the Walter Reade Theatre in New York City.

Gresham was presented the award for his article, "Sounds Like
Home," published in the November 13, 2003 issue of Creative
Loafing-Atlanta. Creative Loafing music editor Roni Sarig was
present at the ceremony to accept the awards both for Creative
Loafing and for Gresham, who was unable to attend.

"Sounds Like Home" features composer Jennifer Higdon, who spent
the first 10 years of her life in Atlanta, and the serendipitous
circumstances surrounding the commissioning of her "City Scape"
by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, which was premiered by Robert
Spano and the Atlanta Symphony on November 14, 2002.
